How to Set Up Email on Android – A Step-by-Step Guide with Screenshots
On devices running the Android operating system, made by smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung, Sony, LG, HTC, General Mobile and Huawei, setting up email can be considered one of the essential tasks, especially for company employees. In this post, I’ll explain how to set up email with the default email app on the Samsung Galaxy S8, which runs Android.
Add New Account
Open the default email app from your apps and tap “Add new account”.

Next, enter the email address and password you’ve been given. The screen for choosing the account type then appears.

Choose “IMAP account”, as it’s considered the more efficient protocol.
Server Settings
Don’t let the screen that appears put you off. All you need to do is enter the email address (username) and password you’ve been given, and type the numbers and terms shown here into the same fields. Let’s get started!

Account
Email address: the email address you’ve been given
Username: the email address you’ve been given
Password: the password you’ve been given
Incoming server
IMAP server: mail.yourdomain.com (use the domain of your email address).
Security type: 993 for SSL/TLS, 143 for None (this comes up by default).
IMAP path prefix: leave it blank if you haven’t been given any information for it.

Outgoing server
SMTP server: mail.yourdomain.com (use the domain of your email address).
Security type: 465 for SSL/TLS, 587 for None (this comes up by default).
The option to authenticate before sending email is ticked.
Username: your full email address.
Password: the password you’ve been given.

After checking all the details one last time, tap “Sign in” to finish. As long as you’ve entered the details correctly and there’s nothing wrong with your internet connection, your email inbox will appear. You can now send and receive email.
