One Sitting Is All It Takes

An 8-episode Harlan Coben adaptation whose pace never flags. Its twists keep you hooked; the acting may be average, but I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for a series to binge in one sitting at the weekend.

Here I am, writing on my blog again after years away. As for how many times – and in how many different ways – I’ve written that line since I first launched the blog, I honestly can’t remember. Anyway…

I’ve just finished the Netflix mini-series I Will Find You in one sitting: 6 hours, without a break.

It was a Sunday, I had the place to myself, I’d signed up to Netflix again after years, and I watched this series that had been popping up for a while and getting a lot of praise. I’m so glad I did.

In a nutshell, the story goes like this: David Burroughs, accused of killing his son and sentenced to life in prison, comes across a photo years later suggesting his son may still be alive, and sets out to find the truth. There are no spoilers in anything below, so you can read on safely.

The pace never drops, yet it never wears you out

First and foremost, I found it very successful as a series whose pace never, ever drops, yet never wears you out either. The story of this 8-episode mini-series is well chosen and well handled, too. Of course, watching shows like this as a father is different now. You can’t help putting yourself in the father’s shoes.

The writing, the twists and the things that jar

Although the writing occasionally reminded me of our own Turkish TV dramas, the way things unravel a little further in almost every episode, while still building to a twist ending, added a new one to the “no way”, “you’re kidding” and “blimey” reactions I kept coming out with throughout the series.

Of course, despite the quality of the writing and the way events are presented so fluidly while keeping the mystery intact, there were a few things that didn’t make sense or that jarred. In particular, the way the twist near the finale was explained was a bit odd. Still, I really enjoyed it.

Who should watch it?

If you’re looking for a gripping series to watch in one sitting at the weekend, you should definitely watch this one.

Frequently asked questions

How many episodes does I Will Find You have?

8 episodes. It’s a one-season mini-series, and all the episodes were released on Netflix at the same time on 18 June 2026.

Is I Will Find You based on a book?

Yes. It’s adapted from Harlan Coben’s novel I Will Find You, published in 2023. It’s one of the latest instalments in Coben’s long-running partnership with Netflix.

Can you watch it in one sitting?

You can. I finished it on a Sunday without a break, in about 6 hours. Each episode builds a little more on the one before, so it’s hard to stop anyway.

Who stars in the series?

Sam Worthington plays David Burroughs, and Britt Lower, known for Severance, plays Rachel.

Can you watch it without spoilers – does the ending have a surprise?

There’s a major twist in the finale, so I’d recommend starting it without reading anything about the series. I haven’t given away any spoilers in this post either.

Is it worth watching?

In my view, yes. I gave it 8 out of 10: full marks for pace, good writing, and average acting.
